I was invited to participate in a pre-tour of our alma mater recently. It was a lot of fun and brought back many memories. Here’s a brief overview of the tour:

As I walked through the front doorway, I was immediately propelled 40 years into the past. The first thing that I saw was our cafeteria that brought back memories of those Thursday lunches; they were the best! I could almost see Jimmy Ahern, sitting with his buddies at a table, sucking down one of those Jello squares during the famous Jello eating contest!

The mirrors aren’t there anymore – that area is now the entrance way to the new building (addition). The Auditorium is still the same. I vividly remembered sitting in one of the middle rows with my homeroom classmates our senior year.

The gym locker room rekindled my memory of having to wear those “distinctive” green gym uniforms; I think we had to buy them at Jobbers Outlet.

Walking down the hallways I noticed the lockers are still there and I found myself trying to remember which of our teachers occupied which classroom as I walked past them. The phone booth is gone, as are the sewing and cooking rooms.

Walking down the glassed-in front hallway was a trip – it’s still as hot as it was back then! The best part of the tour for me was going into the “forbidden” office area. It was one of those places that, as a student, you never wanted to go; for me, it was very impressive seeing it for the first time.

I would highly recommend the tour to all of our classmates: it was fun!

What great memories! If anyone out there has any more-please share as we are putting together some trivia and would like to gather as many memories as we can. LOL-I forgot about the jello eating contest!

I remember the hot hallway, and then the larger hallway at the auditorium end. God, sometimes I just wanted to crawl in a crack, as the “guys” stood along the sides either with their arms crossed, or one leg bent behind them just “checking ‘everything’ out”!

I am sorry, however, I enjoyed jello days! It was my favorite desert/whipped cream. Wasn’t that also steamed hot dog day and minestrone soup? I can’t reall remember all, because that was my favorite lunch and because of eating all that processed food just like that, I have early dimensia : Anyway, still give me that, pizza, mac & cheese & anything from Cole’s or the Marlboro House of Pizza and I was a Happy Camper! I still love “House of Pizza” food no matter where I go. I have not gone wrong yet. ******* on wood!

Thanks for Sharing! Hope to see lot’s more people at the reunion!!!!!!!

Oh, I almost forgot! Mr.Cogswell room was at the other end of “aspergum” for my sore throat. Therefore had to stay after school and scrape off everbody else’s “aspergum”!
Sheesh, never knew there could be so many of us with sore throats! Thanks!

I also remember the vocational school connection to our school. I had an interest on that side. His name was Keith. Does anyone remember where that was?

As I attended many of the events during the weekend of our 40th reunion, I cannot express how much of a pleasure it was to see everyone who attended. The tour, the meet and greet and the evening event at the Courtyard Marriott were truely a wonderful time. I must say that this class, has class. First time checking out the girls locker room too. LOL

To a great group of people who show true comradery and respect for all their classmates and a special thanks to the organizers and the well put together video presentation by David Pando. Even Mr. Clancy who paid us a visit, was part of our evening event.

One interesting segment was having our class join in with the group next door sharing our music we enjoyed in those yesteryears. Pics of Bibies, House of Pizza, trivia questions, our teachers, and other memorabilia were all well done.

Hopefully we shall all meet again in 5 more years.

Ralph

PS. Only one compaint. We could have used bigger plates! LOL
